Spinalonga Island Tour
Spinalonga was first called Kalydon and later re-named Spina Lunga by the Venetians. On the 30th of May 1903, it was sealed as a leper colony. During the German occupation, the island did not fall into the hands of the conquerors. When the cure for leprosy was discovered in 1957, Spinalonga was evacuated and transformed into an archaeological site. Today, it attracts more than 300.000 visitors per year. An absolute must-see!
